About Financial Reporting,
Inc.
Financial Reporting, Inc. has provided cash flow projection, budgeting and
software to commercial real estate and other industries for over 25 years. I
want to thank my past and present clients for the opportunity to fulfill their
programming projects. I started Financial Reporting, Inc. in 1983, working
mostly for commercial real estate developers who needed feasibility pro formas
and project budgets. At that time Lotus 123 was the dominant spreadsheet. Lotus
products eventually faded away in favor of Microsoft Excel, which has now
evolved into a powerful object oriented programming environment. Click on my
Services link above for several examples of completed work. I also offer several
ready-to-use products for use with Microsoft Excel for specific needs under the Software Products
link above.
Background: I was born in Dallas in
1953, graduated from Lake Highlands High School and SMU (BBA Business). I am
married with 2 teenage daughters and we live in McKinney, Texas. I first became
interested in real estate working in my father's family rental and mortgage
business. After college I worked in commercial brokerage for 4 years and then
for 3 years as a development analyst at Cadillac Fairview/Prentiss Properties in
Dallas. Prentiss grew from a start-up to over 200 employees within 2 years and
developed several urban office towers in Dallas, Houston, Ft. Worth, New York,
Washington and Atlanta. That was a rich and varied experience where I was able
to work in Marketing, Finance/Treasury and as a development analyst on several
major projects. My work at Prentiss included budgeting, cash flow projection and
analysis, calculating Net Present Values and Internal Rates of Return for most
of our active projects. Desktop computers were just arriving in business offices
in 1980, with spreadsheet analysis on VisiCalc and later Lotus 123. I started
Financial Reporting, Inc. in 1983 during a major real estate development wave.
In the ensuing years I continued to work for Prentiss as an outsource analyst,
and also for hundreds of entrepreneurial developers who needed financial
expertise in preparing cash flow projection proformas and budgets for loan and
partner presentations. Its been a great adventure, and I remain, at your
service!
Thank you for visiting and please keep in touch. John Helmer, President.
